The Institutional Ethics Review Board (IERB) of the University of Allahabad was constituted in March 2013. Its mandate is to review and approve all types of research proposals with a view to safeguard the dignity, rights, safety and well-being of human participants. Apart from formulating ethical guidelines, the IERB has been meeting periodically to scrutinize and examine research proposals from different departments of the University to ensure that these guidelines have not been violated. It is mandatory to seek ethical clearance from the IERB prior to conducting research using human participants.
