Education can no longer be considered merely a vast sea of mental acrobatics but has to help in developing an individual who is physically fit, mentally sound, emotionally balanced and socially well adjusted to both the sexes.

Physical Education is distinguished from other curricular areas by its primary focus on the body (body, mind and soul) and on physical experience and is an integral part of the educational process, without which the education of the any stakeholder of any age and sex is incomplete. “शरीरमाद्यम खलु धर्म साधनम”. The educational balance between academic and co-curricular activities requires an orientation towards inculcation of health consciousness amongst students, which includes the development of physical, mental and social domain of an individual. With the increase in pace of development of the nation, people striving towards attainment of better life, and for the attainment of strength to sustain the challenges of life, there is a requirement of urgency to lay a strong foundation and strengthen physical education and sports programe at all levels of the education programe for contributing towards development of human resources who can be assets for nation’s growth and prosperity. This creates a need for the integration of physical education, sports, yoga and recreational activities in the education system for the overall quality and promotion of life skills of the younger generation. Physical education teacher preparation programmes are entrusted with the responsibility to inspire, motivate and/or adequately prepare quality physical education teachers to respond to the dynamic needs of learners in the society so as to utilize and implement it in the personal, professional and social life. Surely we will play a proactive role in the emergence of University as a centre of excellence in the field of physical education, yog and sports.

Restructuring and renewing the courses and curriculum is in processing. Few new programs are in the pipeline and we hope to fulfill them in the near future.

Test & Measurement Program- The department has conducted Physiological, Psychological, Nutritional & Physical TM & Evaluation program on Sportsperson & interested groups

Fit for Life-Lecture Series (Now introduced Webinar): The department of Physical Education has introduced the Lecture Series “Fit for Life”- focusing on health, fitness, well being and Para-medical therapies for the community .The goal of the series is the debate on various topics and to assist faculty, staff and students for learning more about life style practices & having sound physical, mental, social & emotional well-being.

Counseling for Competitive & Entrance Examinations

Student Assembly/ Seminar (Open Sessions)- Time-table specifically design to conduct formal event b the students.

Intra-Mural Programmes- are essential extra-curriculum activity of the Department of Physical Education. It provides opportunities to the students to organise participate in and administer numerous sporting activities, which enhance their overall development of personality. The main acting body of the I-M Programmes is the students themselves, who work under the guidance of Faculty members.
