Admission into M.A. (Sociology) 2017-18 Session Based on the result of post Graduate Admission Test (PGAT-2017), admission into M.A. (Sociology) for the session 2017-18 will commence w.e.f. July 17 (Monday), 2017 between 09:30am to 1:00pm in the office of the Department of Sociology located in FCI building (New Academic Complex), University of Allahabad. The candidates who have secured 96.50 and above marks in General category, 39.50 and above marks in scheduled tribe (ST) category are hereby required to report in the Department of Sociology between 9:30am to 1:00pm with all original certificates and mark sheets, passport size photographs and other relevant documents as per the admission norms. All the candidates in PH Category and Sports Quota are requested to report to the Department during the abovementioned time for counseling. The admission shall be given strictly on the basis of merit.
COURSE ON CANCER RESEARCH BY AMERICAN CANCER BIOLOGIST PROF YONG LI & FACULTY OF BIOCHEMISTRY & BIOTECHNOLOGY IN AU UNDER THE GIAN SCHEME OF MHRD, GoI INAUGURATED
MHRD-GoI approved Eight-day duration Course on “ Non coding RNS, Gene Polymorphisms and RNA Interference Role in Human Diseases” under the aegis of Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) was inaugurated at the University of Allahabad on 14th July 2017. The course is conducted by Dr. Munish Kumar, Asst. Prof Department of Biochemistry and Dr. Awadh Bihari Yadav, Asst Prof. Centre of Biotechnology. Prof Shanthy Sundaram welcomed the guests. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Prof. Shanthy Sundaram, Prof R.K Singh, Prof. R.R Tiwari, Prof. Bechan Sharma. The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor welcomed Prof. Yong Li, Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA. Prof. R.K. Singh elaborated about the third chapter of GIAN in the University of Allahabad. Around one thousand programs have been conducted across the country. He told brief story of the brown pelicans in California which became extinct due to shortage of tuna fish and later on rejuvenated due to collaborative efforts. GIAN is an all inclusive initiative of Government of India which covers every academic and research initiative under the sun. Prof. R.R Tiwari gave a brief introduction of Prof. Yong Li who has published more than 80 research articles and worked extensively on mi RNAs, si RNAs, drug delivery. There are 4 modules of the course. Prof Yong Li extended his greetings to the teachers and researchers of University of Allahabad and emphasized need for the exchange of ideas. The honorable VC threw light on the fact that GIAN is a brain child of the Hon’ble President of India Pranab Mukherjee. He told that science changes every second. He discussed about the fact that in the ancient times Chinese medicines were used in India and Indians used to teach in Iran. He underscored the point that if we keep our soul clean our lives will be clean. Prof Bechan Sharma extended the vote of thanks. Prof R.K.singh, Coordinator, UoA- GIAN, thanked Prof Neelam Yadav , Director , IPS, to extend support and allow the Centre of Food Technology facilities for the entire duration of the course. The anchoring of the event was done by Dr. Ena Gupta .
